Kiki's Advantage
If you are thinking of adding a feline companion to your household,
please consider adopting an adult cat. There are many advantages to
adult cats- you can tell the cat's personality and activity level, they
are already litter box trained, and they are not as likely to climb
your curtains as kittens are!
Kiki is one adult cat patiently waiting for a new home. She is a
loving, 8 year old, spayed female, black and white cat. She was given
up in mid April as her owners did not have time for her. She has lived
with adults and dogs, and was great with children when they visited.
Please consider adding Kiki or another adult cat to your home.

Remember Timothy?
Do you remember Timothy? He was featured last month as a pet desperately searching for a home. Despite his loving nature, Timothy
was having difficulty finding a new home because of his age (9 years
old). Luckily, soon after Timothy was seen on Etails, a woman fell in
love with him and welcomed him into her family. Timothy is now happily
living out his retirement in a wonderful new home.

ARL to the Rescue!
The ARLB recently received a call about a distressed goose that appeared to have an arrow in its wing. The goose was seen in a
section of the Charles River that flows through Newton. When our two
rescuers arrived on scene, they located the bird, which did appear to
have something sticking out of its body. The rescuers boarded their
kayaks, nets on board, and soon were able to capture the injured goose.
It was brought to the dock where they discovered it had a broken wing,
with one of the under feathers sticking straight out. The goose was
immediately brought to a wildlife care center for evaluation by a
veterinarian.

Adopt the Most Popular Pet in America
The ARLB in partnership with American Humane, is proud to announce that
June is Adopt-A-Cat Month. Late spring and early summer are some of
the busiest times for animal care facilities, meaning millions of loving cats and kittens looking for homes. Adopting a
cat saves a life and provides the affection of a loving companion. Stop
by the ARLB during June and find a loving feline!

Law Enforcement Needs You
With the dangers of violence and stress facing the world today, we are
seeing an overwhelming increase in the need for our investigative
services. Although we are stressed financially, we have found it
necessary to bolster our law enforcement department with additional
staff to meet the rising demand for these services.
Please help us protect the victims of animal abuse with your generous
financial aid. Contributions offset the high cost of surgery, medical
supplies, vaccines, x-rays, rehabilitation, behavior assessment, and
training. While in our care and protection, these dogs, cats and other
pets also require nourishing food, safe shelter and nurturing care by
staff and volunteers. We recently incurred over $14,000 in housing and
veterinary expenses for months of caring for animals from just one
case.
Donations are gratefully appreciated and may be sent to:
